Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Garden Stride ("we", "us") collects when you use our website (gardenstride.com) and the Garden Stride application, why we collect it, and the choices you have. Plain language, no surprises.

What we collect

Account information. When you create an account — including via Sign in with Google — we receive your email address, your name, and your profile picture. If you sign in with Google, we do not request any additional Google scopes and do not access your Gmail, Drive, Calendar, or any other Google service data.

Garden data you create. The gardens, beds, plantings, log entries, harvests, photos, notes, and reminders you add. This is yours; we store it so the app works.

Approximate location. If you grant location access, we use a coarse coordinate (city-level) to look up your hardiness zone and local weather forecast. We do not store a precise address.

Technical data. Standard server logs (IP address, user agent, request timestamps) for security, abuse prevention, and basic reliability monitoring. These are retained for a limited period and not used to build a profile of you.

How we use it

• To run the service — sign you in, save your gardens, send the reminders you set up.
• To fetch a local forecast and hardiness zone, when you've shared a coarse location.
• To keep the service secure — detect abuse, debug errors, prevent spam.
• To respond to you when you contact us.

We do not sell your data. We do not use your garden data to train machine learning models. We do not run advertising on Garden Stride.

Who we share it with

We share data only with vendors that help operate the service, and only what's needed:

• Supabase — authentication, database, and file storage hosting.
• Google — only if you choose Sign in with Google, which sends Google your authentication request.
• Weather provider — we send your coarse coordinates to a weather API to retrieve your local forecast.
• Email provider — to deliver transactional emails you've requested (reminders, account messages).

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Garden Stride, our users, or the public.

Cookies and local storage

We use cookies and browser local storage to keep you signed in and remember your preferences. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Your rights

• Export. Self-serve export of your gardens, plantings, log, and harvests is coming soon. In the meantime, email us at hello@gardenstride.com and we'll send you a copy.
• Delete. You can delete your account from the app, which removes your data from our active systems. Backups roll off on a regular schedule.
• Access and correction. Email us at hello@gardenstride.com and we'll help.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws like the GDPR or CCPA. We honor those requests; reach out and we'll handle it.

Changes

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the effective date above and, for substantive changes, notify you in the app or by email.
